VISIT BY MR. PELÉ AMISSI CONCERNING UNITED NATIONS SECURITY COUNCIL RESOLUTION 2250
Mr. Pelé Amissi's visit was held this Thursday, October 23, 2025, in the office of the CA and PRODEF, as part of an exchange concerning United Nations Security Council Resolution 2250, adopted on December 9, 2015.
This resolution recognizes the central role of young people in conflict prevention, peace promotion, and post-conflict reconstruction.
The main objective of this meeting was to protect young people before, during, and after periods of armed conflict, while highlighting their efforts and contribution to peacebuilding.
During this meeting, Mr. Pelé Amissi presented the main outlines of Resolution 2250, emphasizing its importance in promoting the active role of young people in society.
He recalled that the resolution is structured around five fundamental pillars, namely:
1.Participation:encouraging the active involvement of young people in peace and security decision-making processes;
2.Protection: guaranteeing the safety, dignity, and rights of young people, particularly in times of conflict;
3. Prevention: promoting policies and initiatives that reduce the root causes of violence and social tensions;
4. Partnerships: strengthening collaboration between young people, public institutions, civil society, and international partners;
5.Disengagement and Reintegration: supporting the social, economic, and psychological reintegration of young people affected by armed conflicts.
The discussions allowed for a deeper understanding of these five pillars and a reflection on ways to apply this resolution in the local context.
Following the visit, several recommendations were formulated, notably:
👉 Increase awareness among young people and communities about Resolution 2250;
👉 Promote the participation of youth Empowerment, etc.
